It's happening this Saturday, December 2nd, 2017!   There are Home Tours (four homes, two barns and a cabin) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and a Christmas Tea, Dessert and Pageant from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the McKellar Community Centre.  $15 per person or two for $25.  Maps and tickets are available on Friday at the Township Office or at the Community Centre from 12:30 to 1:30 on Saturday.  For more information call Joyce at 705-389-2228 or email jhopkins@lycos [...]

It's a "go" for Rogers Corporation's new communications tower in McKellar!  A Rogers' representative contacted MLCA last week to confirm that the approved 35 metre monopine communications tower (looks like a pine tree) is on the "build list" for the spring of 2018 with preliminary site preparation beginning during the winter months.  The site for the new communications tower is at an elevation of 250 metres on Township land at the top of the peninsula north of Hurdville between Sunnyshore Park Drive and West Point Drive [...]

To support the Manitouwabing Lake Community Association Mission Statement "To maintain the recreational value of Manitouwabing Lake and its environs, an open discussion about residential rentals and their impact on the community took place at the July 9th 2016 MLCA Annual Meeting, where the following question was posed to Members: "Do you object to illegal use of lakeside properties in the Township of McKellar as commercially run rental units and wish the Council to promptly address this issue?"  Almost 93% agreed [...]

In July 2017, the Federal government announced a number of proposed tax changes to private corporations and their owners.  If the proposals are enacted, some will apply going back to July 18, 2017, and may require a detailed examination of activities going back to when the shares were first issued to the owners to determine if the punitive rules will apply or not.  That may sound ridiculous and unfair, but that is what has been proposed [...]
